Our Story.

The Cobbler Hotel is inspired by the past and excited by the future. A moody, industrial yet homely design that encompasses a modern boutique hotel experience, whilst paying homage to the roots of the site.

We sit proudly in the middle of Wellington’s famous Hannah’s Laneway which runs along Eva and Leeds Streets through the old Hannah’s shoe factory.  Robert Hannah moved to Wellington in 1873 and built a boot empire, within a decade they were pumping out 1,500 boots a week. In 1923, the Leeds Street shoe factory was constructed, the laneway hummed to life and so did the hustle and bustle we love about it today.

The Cobbler Hotel is a nod to the laneways humble beginnings and a celebration of the energy that still thrives there today.
